For employers
Nobody funds workplace English. That is why it is yours.
Classroom ESOL funding does not follow somebody into a job. The responsibility for how well your staff understand each other sits with you.
The problem this addresses
A new starter with limited English can do the job and still struggle with everything around it. The induction. The rota conversation. The safety briefing that was delivered quickly by somebody who assumed it had landed.
The risk is not that they cannot work. It is that nobody finds out what they did not understand until something goes wrong, and that they leave before anybody asks.
There is a second half to it, and it is the half most organisations skip. Your existing managers have had no training in communicating with somebody at A1 or A2. Slowing down, checking understanding without patronising, and avoiding idioms are learnable skills, and almost nobody has been taught them.
What RISEA supplies
- Licensed learning materials at CEFR A1–B1 covering the practical daily situations a newly arrived worker deals with outside the job, which you can hand to staff directly.
- A written standard for how your people communicate with newcomers, with a twenty indicator self-assessment.
- A staff training module your own internal lead delivers, so it is repeatable for every intake rather than a session you buy again each year.
Chapter 1 is free to read in full. Hand it to somebody who started last week and see whether it is useful before you spend anything.
What it costs
£500, £1,500 or £3,000 a year, stated up front.
There is no quotation process to start, no discovery call before a number, and no price that depends on your headcount. The tiers are the same for everybody and what each one includes is published.
RISEA is not VAT registered, so invoices carry no VAT and there is nothing for your finance team to reclaim or process.
What you may claim, and what you may not
A certified organisation may state that it is “Certified to the RISEA Canon Standard” at the tier it holds.
It is not an accreditation. RISEA International authors and awards this standard. There is no regulator behind it and no external awarding body, and we say so on every page rather than waiting to be asked. What it evidences is that your staff have been trained and assessed against a documented standard for communicating with newcomers. That is real, checkable staff development, and nothing more than that.
